Nurse Anesthetist - CRNA

Wilmington, NC

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist needed for a not for profit community hospital affiliated with a University Healthcare system.  Will be employed directly  by the Hospital. 

Be on the pristine beaches of the Atlantic Coast in less than 60 minutes!   2 hours to the beautiful mountains of North Carolina!

Will report to the CHIEF Nurse Anesthetist. 


Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing and Anesthesia Program
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in North Carolina or Compact state required
  • Current Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
  • Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university preferred
  • At least one to three years clinical nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting required

The CRNA's primary function in the Department  is to deliver safe and competent care of the surgical patient under the medical direction of the attending Anesthesiologist.

Must be comfortable working in a fast paced Hospital/Surgery Center environment.

Comfortable with services provided to include: General, Ortho, Neuro (primarily necks and backs but some crani's), Dental, ENT, Vascular- including Endovascular AAA and Carotids, Ophthalmology, Epidurals, etc.

Responsibilities:

 
  • assesses patient pre-operatively in a timely and efficient manner. This includes performance of history and physical, development of anesthesia plan of care, documentation of assessment and plan, explanation of care, risks and benefits to patient and family, assembly of equipment and drugs. Meets annual departmental quality metrics for turnover times, on-time starts and QI submissions.
  • performs ASA-approved checklist of equipment, provides safe environment for patient, administers anesthesia in accordance with the Department of Anesthesiology standards of care, places appropriate lines and monitors, adjusts care and notifies appropriate personnel in abnormal situations, transports patient at the end of the case, reports pertinent information, documents anesthesia care.
  • will work with a variety of patients, from newborn to elderly, attentive to details, making quick decisions with the realization that any mistake may result in serious consequences to the patient. 
  • must be able to perform ultrasound guided regional nerve blocks and be able to place epidurals and spinals.
