The Controller’s Division is responsible for the Company’s financial statements, establishing corporate accounting policies, preparing SEC and regulatory reports and ensuring the adequacy of internal controls. The Division also manages and supports the Company’s General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Fixed Assets systems.

THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN A HIGHLY VISIBLE CONTROLLER''S DIVISION GROUP WHERE YOU WILL APPLY AND HONE FINANCIAL REPORTING AND GAAP SKILLS, PARTICIPATE IN OR LEAD FINANCIAL REPORTING PROCESS IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS AND INTERACT WITH BUSINESS TEAMS ACROSS THE COMPANY

This Accountant position is a member of the SEC Reporting Group that prepares various consolidated external financial reports for filing with the SEC and issuance to the public, including Form 10-Ks (Annual Report),Form 10-Qs (quarterly reports) and quarterly Earnings Releases. The position involves a significant amount of commentary preparation and review of financial report data as well as accounting/reporting research and process improvement projects. Likewise, it requires extensive understanding of FASB and SEC accounting and disclosure requirements and how they relate to the businesses of the Company, as well as the ability to spot data issues through analysis of financial detail from the general ledger and off-ledger information provided by Company business units. You will be involved in the implementation of new FASB and SEC rules and regulations and must be able to understand and communicate complex accounting issues. You will regularly interact with many important financial and reporting groups of the Company, such as Investor Relations, Corporate Credit, Treasury, ALCO, Accounting Policy, Financial Planning and Analysis, Legal and the business unit group controllers and their reporting teams. As part of your regular interaction you will be expected to develop an understanding of their businesses, products, systems, key sources of financial reporting information, and other matters important to help gather and explain the Company’s financial results to the public. You will be a significant leader and contributor to one or more disclosure groups, which quarterly oversee the quality of processes for gathering necessary disclosure information and develop the relevant commentary and financial disclosures for the external reports. The key disclosure groups include credit, fair value, investment securities, derivatives, variable interest entities and mortgage lending, and you will be expected to lead periodic disclosure group meetings. The position will involve technical research to develop a strong understanding on selected accounting and disclosures, working closely with the Accounting Policy group, and reviewing peer reporting for best practices. You will be expected to lead efforts to help the SEC Reporting Group identify and improve its financial reporting process, as well as consult with and influence business unit reporting groups on their information gathering processes. The ability to work effectively in cross functional teams is important to help implement reporting process improvements. Demonstrating critical financial analytical skills and recommending improvements in analytical reviews is also important to this position. Communication skills must include the ability to understand and explain complex financial and accounting matters in simple and easy to understand terms for public consumption. The Group is embracing report automation technology to improve its controls and processes, and you will be expected to learn and leverage this and other technologies. Sound GAAP and SEC knowledge, strong financial reporting skills, attention to detail, clear communication skills and utilization of good controls are critical to ensure that our reporting to the public is timely, accurate, clear and complete.

Required Qualifications: •7+ years of accounting experience •4+ years of financial reporting experience

Desired
•A BS/BA degree or higher in accounting
•CPA-Certified Public Accountant designation
•Intermediate Microsoft Office skills •Essbase and/or SmartView experience
•2+ years of public accounting experience
•General ledger experience •Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills •Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills •Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
•Ability to work effectively, as well as independently, in a team environment
•Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles: public accounting in the financial services industry Strong knowledge of FASB accounting and disclosure requirements for the financial services industry
•Significant experience with the preparation of financial statements and SEC 10 - Q/Ks •Understanding of XBRL requirements and experience with XBRL “tagging”
•Project management experience for complex projects •Ability to identify, research and resolve financial reporting issues
